Every Wedding is a story and this is about a girl named Tanya! There was a need for home weddings post covid and the world was forced to choose it. But this story is not about a covid dictated wedding, but about a girl who wanted to live through her childhood on her wedding.
When we met Tanya, the only thing she knew was – she wanted the Mehendi to be something that was reminiscent of her childhood. She wanted everything to remind her of the cheerful laughter, the joyful conversations, her innocence, her transition into a young woman and her journey as she got ready to take steps into her new life. The venue for the Mehendi was already decided, it was a lawn at a five star hotel.
On understanding Tanya’s vision, we decided to convince the family to plan the mehendi in their own garden where Tanya actually grew up.
The décor was mixed with a lot of blue and yellow. Blue being Tanya’s favorite and summers being her favorite season. The mood board was a perfect amalgamation of Tanya’s heartbeat spread on the canvas of their lawn like a rainbow to her sky. Just with a tiny twist of her colours being the choice of the rainbow.
The very place she learnt to walk, where she planted her first sapling (she still recalls as magic), where she sipped lemonade and finally cocktails with her cousins.
A place she called home in her heart. On sharing this idea with Tanya, her eyes sparkled and that is exactly how it was supposed to be. Tanya was always a happy child as narrated to us by her parents, hence we decided to choose the happiest flower to adorn the décor – yellow genda.
We were also told about the tuberose essence being a prominent part of her childhood. So many of her friends would recollect how her home was filled with tube roses every time they visited. We took this as our cue and translated it to use a lot of Rajnigandha in the décor. And this is how we created her mehendi décor where every corner spoke to Tanya in its own way.
We decorated her childhood swing, a constant in that lawn to remind her that she shall never outgrow the affection of her first love. The trees in the lawn became strong warriors and protected our bride from the direct sunlight. The mehendi décor was infused with a lot of personal touches and a lot of detailing to plan something which felt just like pure love.
A day inspired by Tanya for Tanya with Tanya to create a story which felt just like home. A day she could merrily call her own.
The perfect blend of her favourite colours, the memories of her childhood so well lived and the closeness of all her loved ones right next to her made this Mehendi a spectacle to the eyes.
Even today, Tanya can beat anyone at a golgappa challenge and thus we decided to move away from the typical buffet setup we usually witness and have a Dilli-6 inspired chaat setup for lunch.
And so, It began with a girl named Tanya who had a dream for her special day and to make her dreams come to life was our vision. Here’s to living every day of this dreamy life trying to bring about a smile on the faces of our guests, a moment we treasure for years together.
