Anushka & Aditya
A Bollywood Romance
Saath Samundar Par Main Tere Peeche Peeche Aa Gayi…
Two years ago, while planning a wedding for an adorable couple, we met Anushka, a Bollywood RJ and journalist from London who was hosting the wedding for this couple. Well, that was that and so began a sweet serendipity with the gorgeous Anushka Arora. While leaving from this wedding, she hugged all of us and said, “You will plan my wedding, whenever that is.” In a rather changing world, she kept her promise. And here we were getting a message from her exactly one year later, that she’s getting married. From planning her roka to her wedding, it’s been an unforgettable journey. Every wedding we plan, is a “meant to be” in its own special way and this is our favourite Anushka’s Story.
Once upon a time, lived a girl in a land far far away with a heart full of Bollywood. A celebrity journalist, there isn’t a single person she hasn’t interviewed in the film fraternity. We can never stop aww-ing over her Instagram account.
A girl full of Bollywood dreams who wanted a full on desi wedding and her only dream was to enjoy each moment of this time to the fullest. Anushka & Aditya (even their names are fully filmy) decided to book Shangri-La, New Delhi for their wedding events. Anushka wanted all her guests to stay there too.
The wedding shenanigans began with a full Punjabi tadka Mehendi. She entered dancing her heart out on a Dhol wearing the prettiest lime green outfit. The décor was in pink & orange hues, lots of gota, loaded with genda and a lot of love. The family had a great time dancing to the tunes of a mehendi singer who really got the afternoon rocking.
We then had the Sangeet at The Lalit, where Anushka set the dance floor on fire dancing to the songs of the 90’s. An old school at heart, she wanted the most unique songs for her wedding. We are sharing her song list right below for you all. A beautifully curated evening by her choreographer friend. The highlight of the evening was the adorable dance by her parents and a beautiful tribute by her sister who had never danced in her life. A night full of dancing, drinking and making memories. The Décor was all blue & golds complimenting our bride & groom. She was so keen on hosting her own Sangeet event, that we had to hide the mic away from her.
The next day began with a soulful Haldi ceremony, the entire family coming together as one, singing and dancing all along to make it one of the most fun haldis, we have planned. There was no room for anyone to get emotional, it was a time full of fun & frolic with loads of masti. We had a big Urli for Anushka to have her haldi in and a flower shower to make her day full of sunshine. A day full of laughter and love. The entire family wore yellow to match the theme.
A baraat so much on time in the history of Indian weddings, Anushka walked the aisle wearing a beautiful Red lehenga by Aastha Narang. She looked absolutely stunning and we couldn’t take our eyes off her. Anushka recorded a voice note, which was played just before she entered, thanking her parents and how she was looking forward to her new life. Left almost everyone in the room with tears of joy. The Pheras which were followed by the Jaimala, an event where the songs by the family members were louder than the Pandit Ji. The most exciting pheras we have ever been a part of as wedding planners. A vintage and chic mandap in tones of red as per our bride’s wishes and the reception, a classy formal affair.
Our Bride-Chilla was a happy-go-lucky bride and did not let stress come to her. She left her tasks to her sister and decided to enjoy herself all through the days. Something all brides should learn to do. These days will never come back, make the most of them. She needed her coffee every day and an hour at the gym even on her wedding day. What keeps you calm and happy? Make sure you do that during your wedding.
Anushka always knew where to splurge and where to save on the wedding budget. She wore the most stunning outfits but did not choose the super high end designers. She decided to go with Nikaza Asian Couture – a multi designer fashion house By Jasmine Nikaza based in London and that was it, Jasmine had all her outfits sorted in no time. Anushka wore – Mahima Mahajan on her Mehendi, Vvani Vats on her Sangeet, and Aastha Narang on her wedding day. She had her chooda and kaleere specially customised from Raabta. The Kaleeras had an A drop on each of them. And needless to say, simplicity was her thing and she looked stunning at each event.
A wedding full of memories, happiness, laughter and a lot of Bollywood. Our first celebrity wedding and the first ones are always the most special.
